Bio

Dan Fost is a veteran journalist and freelance writer whose work ranges from science and technology to baseball and features. He has written two books about the San Francisco Giants, as well as two privately produced books commemorating corporate anniversaries.

As a staff writer at the San Francisco Chronicle, he covered technology and media, with a front row seat at the rise and fall of the dotcoms, as well as their resurrection in the form of Web 2.0. He has also written for the New York Times,the Los Angeles Times, and many other newspapers, magazines and Web sites, as well as many corporate clients. Don’t let the technology specialty fool you: Dan is a versatile generalist who has covered sports, social ventures, the environment, education, police and politics.

He is a passionate baseball fan and the author of the books “Giants Baseball Experience,” published in 2014, and “Giants Past and Present,” published in 2010 with new editions in 2011 and 2013, all published by MVP Books. Dan hit the lecture circuit in support of his book, giving talks at bookstores, libraries, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, the City Club of San Francisco and the New York Baseball Giants Nostalgia Society.

Dan is a native of New Jersey, a graduate of Boston University, and is married with one child (who is also an avid baseball fan and player). He loves reading, writing, cooking, baseball, and spending time outdoors, among other things. He lives in Marin County, California.
